Knowing Rusul (Messengers) of Allah
Idris عليه السلام (Enoch)

Idris عليه السلام (Enoch) was a Rasul (Messenger) of Allah (God). He was born only a few generations after Adam عليه السلام (Adam), and is said to be the first Rasul (Messenger) of Allah (God) after Adam عليه السلام (Adam). He is mentioned in the Holy Qur-an at several places.

Idris عليه السلام (Enoch) was born in Babylon and grew up there. He followed the religion of Islam, which was the original religion, as preached by Adam عليه السلام (Adam).

People of Idris عليه السلام (Enoch) had turned away from the religion of Allah (God). He called his people back to his forefathers religion, but only a very few listened to him. Majority of his people had turned away from the religion of Allah (God) and did not listen to his preaching. They forced him and his followers out of Babylon.

Idris عليه السلام (Enoch) and his followers left for Misr (Egypt). Idris عليه السلام (Enoch) called the people of Misr (Egypt) to the path of Allah (God). He taught them how to pray to Allah (God) and asked them to fast on certain days and to pay Zakah to the poor and needy.

Allah (God) has praised Idris عليه السلام (Enoch) in the Holy Qur-an at several places.

وَاذْكُرْ فِي الْكِتَابِ إِدْرِيسَ ۚ إِنَّهُ كَانَ
صِدِّيقًا نَّبِيًّ

وَرَفَعْنَاهُ مَكَانًا عَلِيًّاا
And mention in the Book (the Qur-an) 'Idris (Enoch). Verily he was a man of truth, (and) a Prophet,
And We raised him to a high station.

Surah (Chapter) Maryam (Mary) 19:56-57

وَإِسْمَاعِيلَ وَإِدْرِيسَ وَذَا الْكِفْلِ ۖ كُلٌّ مِّنَ الصَّابِرِينَ
And (remember) Isma'il (Ishmael), and Idris (Enoch) and Dhul-Kifl (Isaiah): all were from among As-Sabirun (the patient).
وَأَدْخَلْنَاهُمْ فِي رَحْمَتِنَا ۖ إِنَّهُم مِّنَ الصَّالِحِينَ
And We admitted them to Our Mercy. Verily, they were of the righteous.
Surah (Chapter) al-Anbiyah (The Prophets) 21:85-86
