One month after Hijrah in the month of Rabi’ uth Thani, two Rak’ah (Units) were added to Zuhr (Early Afternoon), ‘Asr (Late Afternoon) and ‘Isha” (Night) Salah (Prayers) but two Rak’ah (Units) remained for Qasr Salah (Shortened Prayers during travel).
Rabi’ uth Thani, is also known as Rabi' ul Akhir.
Some Muslims erroneously 'celebrate' the 11th of Rabi’ uth Thani as anniversary of Shaikh 'Abdul Qadir Jilani. It is the death anniverasry which is celebrated. These celebrations take place in many parts of the Muslim world, despite of the fact that Islam does not have any tradition of celebrating birth or death anniversaries. Moreover it is so illogical to celebrate 'death'.
Special dishes are prepared at great expense for Ithal Thawab (Sending Rewards to the Diceased) to Shaikh 'Abdul Qadir Jilani, without knowing the actual date of his death. Many 'Ulema" (Religous Scholars) put his date of death to 17th of Rabi’ uth Thani.
Irrespective of the accuracy of date, celebrating 'death' or 'birth anniversaries' is wrong as we have explained in the previous issue of ZamZam-magazine. (Read again)
Practicing anything new in the name of Islam is a Bid'ah (Innovation), if it was not practiced by the Messenger of Allah, Muhammadصلى الله عليه وسلم, his Sahabah (companions) and the two generations after them.
‘A”ishah bint Abu Bakr رضى الله عنها narrated that the Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم said, “The best of people is my generation, then those who come after them, then those who came after them (i.e. the first three generations of Muslims)."
Bukhari and Muslim
There is a severe punishment for those who split up the Muslim Ummah (Nation) by inventing 'new traditions' in Islam.
Of those who split up their religion (i.e. who left the true Islamic Monotheism), and became sects, [i.e. they invented new things in the Religion (Bid'ah), and followed their vain desires], each sect rejoicing in that which is with it.
